In other words, I sincerely believe the organized left is doing everything in its power to convince Trump supporters NOT to get the life-saving Trump vaccine.
I’m sorry, but people willing to drone strike seven children and who are eager to unleash terrorists like Antifa and Black Lives Matter into our cities are sociopaths. The left’s morality is guided only by that which furthers their fascist agenda, and so using reverse psychology to trick Trump supporters NOT to get a life-saving vaccine is, to them, a moral good. The more of us who die, the better.
Politico has an article discussing whether Biden should declassify certain Trump documents. This made me laugh out loud:

Famously, as president, Trump employed this power cavalierly to disclose classified information to Russia’s foreign minister and ambassador. Trump also pushed law enforcement and intelligence agencies to declassify details about the Russia investigation. Is that final sentence a joke? Trump’s been on the political scene for 6 years; has Politico still not figured him out?
BTW, did you see that Trump will name his new social network “Truth”. The name sounds better in Russian.

The problem with the Breitbart speculation is that some people, as did Breitbart, were going to figure this out. Some Republicans were going to get vaccinated anyway. However, that is where the back up plan comes in handy. The claims about 5G and the vaccines actually are true. Those will be used for mind control for those who dont fall for the ruse and get vaccinated anyway.

He took one week away from his partisan quackery, but he’s back again in full force.
Many Americans don’t want to live under a federal government that forces them to place something inside their body, or ties their employment and societal participation to how “compliant” they are.
Scott continues to call for “mass vaccination”, “coercion”, and “threats” to those who simply don’t want the vaccine. If you prefer that model of governance, why not move to China and live under the CCP? What are you still doing here? You can renounce your citizenship at anytime. Just leave the country, go to the embassy, and fill out two pages. It’s that easy.

Both are propaganda. And most Americans take neither seriously. Well, Sumner of course takes CNN seriously because he falls into the radical left category. But most Americans do not.
To claim that breitbart is the “conservative position” is disingenuous. If you quoted the Federalist, or City Journal, or the Hoover Institution you might then claim “conservative position” as these are more or less conservative think tanks (the federalist is more libertarian) but nevertheless it is far more intellectual than breitbart.
If the Chicago academics today like reading the NYT, CNN and Brietbart for “intellectual stimulation”, our nation has a BIG problem!
The conservative position on vaccines is simply this: the choice should be between them and their doctor – not some apparatchik in Washington, or an academic behind a desk. Healthcare is not “one size fits all”.
But yes, we know Sumner disagrees. After all, to the radical left, more government, more “experts”, and more spending is always the answer to every problem. Anything that increases their tax revenue, or creates more “govt jobs” for the surplus of underqualified and uneducated social science graduates is the answer to the world problems.

I have stopped reading political news all together——I do go to aggregators and check out the headlines to see if anything has changed——when that does I will likely read some essays.
I am amazed how some people have this “Jones” (where did that term come from?) about Trump. They hunt down these stories and it gives them great emotional satisfaction—-but one of my long time best friends sends me about 5-10 Trump articles daily——so I am always on top of those stories——I cannot imagine chasing down Biden stories—-what is the point? I do not read them of course. ( I of 15 times I respond with an absurd comment—-(he calls me “MAGA Mike”). Which is funny—-since he is the hunter—and I am the game (Patty Smyth—-circa 1984)
But if it makes Scott happy (and frankly, I am responding, so……..) no harm done.

I have read here for along time but never commented, or rarely, since I appreciate the views of non-partisan libertarians. I also think that you, Scott, arent even especially doctrinaire in libertarianism. Seems to me you have a pragmatic streak or at the very least have some heterodox views.
Cant for the life of me figure out how you attracted the loonies. Must have hurt someone’s feelings I guess. I have relatives like this. Lots of them. Have you noticed that you criticize Trumps every venture, without once praising anything he’s ever done? Is there anything you like about Trump? How about his hair? His smile? His hotel? His golf course? Do you think it’s sane to hate everything about someone? Some would rightly call that type of thinking “deranged”.
1. A new social media platform that refuses to ban people and allows free speech sounds great. There is nothing wrong with expressing oneself freely without censorship. One only has to review numerous FB and Twitter internal chats, and information from countless whistleblowers, to see that almost every decision by their board is political. They have blocked congressmen, a former president, removed followers from those they don’t like, made certain names unsearchable (they call this shadow banning). All of which has contributed to the current state of affairs. Political opponents in a democracy are not “enemies”, no matter how much you want secretly them to be. Only totalitarians think of their political opponents as “domestic terrorists” and “enemies of the republic”.
2. Truth & Russia is a very, very poor analogy. Truth and CCP would be a much better analogy. Unlike the U.S., the RU of today is both politically sane and politically moderate. There are not many RU citizens that agree with the radical left or radical right.
3. The new platform will hopefully create jobs and competition in an industry that sorely needs both. Trump is risking money, and also his reputation. He is engaging the marketplace. All of that is commendable.
Seeking to understand the position of another, and placing the shoe on the other foot, is an important skill. It’s a skill you sadly don’t have. And quite frankly, any man approaching 70 who still doesn’t have social skills, tact and diplomacy, is a man that is not very bright. Some people call that “bitter”: hence the term, “bitter old man”.
Typically, people who are upset with their life choices fall into this category.

Well, this thread is off-the-rails. How about a new topic like taxing unrealized capital gains! I might be for that, if there was an efficient way of estimating the value of all assets accurately. If there is not, there will be huge distortions in capital investments and that is bad.
I have seen an alternative proposal that would tax (as income) any money borrowed against assets with unrealized capital gains. That is easy to value and neutral, which is good.

Is it dignified to steal from someone else, and send that money in the form of a check to an old poor person? Or is more dignified, and more fair, to ask children to take care of their damn parents and, if they cannot, is it more dignified to ask the poor old people to WORK a bit, DOING WHATEVER THEY CAN, at a house with others? It’s a hell of a lot more dignified than a nursing home! And a hell of lot more fair to the American taxpayer. And yeah, nobody died from a lack of health care either. Sumner’s revisionist history doesn’t add up. Doctors tended to the poor before medicaid and medicare, and surgeons operated for free.
By the way, the only reason Sumner attacks Trumps media platform is because he wants Twitter, Facebook and YouTube to own the social media market. He is not a fan of free speech. He wants to control the narrative, and the best way to do that is to keep competition out of the market.
