Worthwhile Canadian Politician

Manitoba’s conservative leader is about as far from Trump as it is possible to be, without entirely leaving the human race. Check out the 1 1/2 minute video at this link:

How does Canada end up with people like Brian Pallister while we end up with Donald Trump and Lindsey Graham?

BTW, at a time when hospital workers in many parts of the country are overwhelmed with work, Trump retweets a nutty conspiracy theory that the hospitals are not actually flooded with Covid patients. How sick does a person have to be to do something like that?

America’s GOP seems to favor “freedom” and “liberty” as long as you use that freedom to do things that the GOP approves of. Otherwise you can rot in jail for all they care:

The Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement Act (MORE Act), made it through the House by a 228 to 164 vote. Nearly every Democrat supported the measure, while just five Republicans voted for it. Six Democrats voted against the bill.

The bill, introduced by Rep. Jerry Nadler (D., N.Y.), would eliminate conflict between state and federal law and allow states to set their own marijuana policies.

States rights? Why that’s positively un-American!

Trumpistas like to imagine that Trump represents “the people” against “the elites”. Actually, among 21st century candidates only McCain was less able to get “the people” to vote for him, and McCain would have easily surpassed Trump’s vote share if he’d been running against Hillary rather than Obama:

Not to mention that McCain had to run in 2008, when Iraq and the Great Recession made the GOP highly unpopular.

Biden’s 51.3% is the most by a challenger since 1932, when FDR won by a landslide over Hoover. And Biden did something even FDR failed to do in 1932, he won Pennsylvania.

On the lighter side, watch this 2 minute video of Trump’s crack legal team in action. These days, it’s hard to tell reality from SNL.

    “McCain would have beaten Clinton”?????????????

You mean Song Bird? The guy who finished last in his class at the Naval Academy? That guy?. Are you serious?

McCain was a RINO, and an EPIC MORON, who consistently voted for big govt policies. Even diehard libertarians like myself voted for Obama over McCain. McCain had an IQ of 60. You have to be joking….

You just cannot get through that thick “ccp funded” skull that Trump is loved because he stands up for the disenfranchised. He opposes losers like you that advocate “no borders” and “no tariffs”. Such advocation only leads to poverty for millions of Americans.

He opposes your advocation for “cancel culture” and “BLM marxist culture” and “drug culture” and “political correctness” and “centralized programs” because such policies ensure poverty.

He opposes the CCP. He opposes the extermination of Uighers. He opposes apparatchiks telling you how many people you can have over your house. He opposes govt mandating the close of business. He opposes the “great reset”. He opposes “endless foreign wars”. Another Obama failed promise.

Every policy YOU propose is a policy that either erodes liberty, seeks to get us involved in another war (your moronic N.K. beliefs) or destroys the American economy.

In 1897, William McKinley setup big beautiful tariffs to protect the American worker. In the 1980s, Reagan established big beautiful tariffs to protect the American worker. In 2016, Trump proposed big beautiful tariffs to protect the American worker. In all three cases the economy ROARED!!!!

Trump represents the rugged individualist. He represents American values. Values rooted in liberty. He’s witty, and has a dry sense of humor. His rallies are some of the largest we’ve ever seen. And most importantly, he inspires people to be extraordinary. To live the American dream. And to try and achieve the impossible.

Biden inspires all of us to endure a manufactured “dark winter”. That loser wants to lock you in your house, tell you how many people can visit, what stores to visit, when to visit, force vaccinate you, and then take 60% of your labor.

Give me liberty or give me death!

Trumps biggest donors were USMC and NYPD.
Biden’s donors were BIG TECH (censors our speech daily), BIG PHARMA (Trump lowered prescription drug prices), and academics.

The republican party is the new blue collar party.

The biggest problem with democracy is that people who think like you might become majority and decided how the rest of people should live. The second biggest problem is you elected a war loving career politician, and as a foreigner in an oil rich country, I feel concerned.

Surprised you fell for the marijuana bill. It had poison pills in it. A) the tax needs to be discussed – I’d prefer no federal tax; if theirs a tax then the federal government would still investigate marijuana as tax avoidance is very real in the business and thus the feds would still have to criminalize non tax payment and jail people for weed. B). The bill included new woke spending

And many people think we are already doing too much to combat covid spread and making strong arguments like Robert Hanson – a lot of us utility maximizers get called covid deniers when we just don’t think the costs is worth it to prevent spreading. Or that npi yield much when comparing country strategies.

The woke left believes we don’t have a culture.
They want you to tear down the most extraordinary contract ever produced between people and government.

But we do have a culture. That culture is obnoxious, wild, creative, ambitious, sloppy and rooted in individualism.

Yes, we are crazy sons of bitches. And that is what makes us extraordinary. The creative artists, comedians, entrepreneurs, and DONALD JOHN TRUMPS are born out of that embrace of chaos.

We don’t want conformity in America. That is Chinese style. Not American style.

People that served with John McCain said he was a traitor.
And his accomplishments over 40 years as a senator are on par with Biden. He did nothing other than acquire earmarks for Arizona. He was one of the least active Senators.

And had he run again he would have lost. Arizona had previously voted for him out of pity. Basically because he was a veteran. But towards the end they had enough of his incompetence.

I voted for Jorgensen. Is she the sort of busybody you had in mind? You are saying that the Libertarians are the ones that want to tell people how to live? I thought it was the GOP and the Dems that wanted to do that.

Tax avoidance occurs in all industries. How many people are in jail for failing to pay sales tax on the purchase of microwave ovens? How many people are in jail for drug violations. (The answer is 400,000)

Some of you commenters are unbelievable. It’s a 5% tax!! It’s like you are trying hard to say the dumbest thing possible.

    Scott,

what I have read so far of David Frum was intellectually disappointing, and this is not because he is on the “other” side, on the contrary I find intelligent comments from other sides are often the best and most challenging. But well, not Mr. Frum.

Take his Twitter comment for example, relative values are probably the worst way to compare the Presidents. You are an economist, why would you even fall for that.

The overall presentation of this aspect in the media is always so disappointing. Either the media presents relative values, like Frum did.

Or alternatively, they use absolute values, which makes much more sense in my opinion, but then they don’t adjust for population growth at all, so again, what do they even compare, it doesn’t make sense.

Mathematics is certainly not my strength, but the solution is so simple that even I could calculate a spreadsheet of adjusted absolutes votes based on turnout, relative values, and a standardized population size.

I haven’t done it yet, but I would assume that presidents like Reagan and Obama might make the top in a list of 1980-2020, but maybe there a funny surprises, I don’t know.

In almost every country I travel people say they support and love Donald Trump.

They tell me to convince others to vote for him. In South Korea, a man told me that he saved their country from war. That relations are warming up, and that things are better now then they’ve ever been. He was so thankful that a US president sat down and spoke with Kim Jong Un instead of making accusations, threats and ignoring him.

In Israel a man approached me and begged that Americans vote for Donald Trump because he stopped the CIA’s war in Syria, and brought peace deals to the region.

A Hong Kong lady told me that she admired Donald Trump for being a beacon of hope for the free world. She liked how he called out the CCP for their “wolf warrior” diplomacy, and total disregard human rights.

In Vietnam a man told me he was jealous of DJT. He felt like a walking robot, programmed from birth to say and think a certain way. He wouldn’t dare criticize the communist regime. He admired Trump for his spirit and determination and willingness to stand up for his ideals in the face of a hostile press.

The list goes on and on.

The only people that hate Donald Trump in America are people who are either 1. Socialist/Communist sympathizers. 2. Brainwashed by media. 3. Too young and uneducated to understand the difference between individualism and collectivism, capitalism and communism. 4. Have no principles at all. And vote based on empathy, or whether they like someone’s personality

Notice when Scott “CCP” Sumner disagrees on policy he doesn’t attack substance, but instead uses ad hominem attacks such as racist, xenophobic, Trumpista, right wing, fascist – and oddly – nationalist.

This is the communist approach to politics. They seek to destroy you the person, and place you into groups. Sumner doesn’t believe in the individual. He believes in a collective “Borg” like species that does what they are told, and follows orders from their King, Queen, or Collective.

The term “right wing” is a term created by globalists to psychologically identify non globalist, patriots, liberty loving people.

Sumner is a commie. Sumner has been working for the CCP for 30 years. He wants a totalitarian regime of humans to enslave a subclass of human cyborgs who will do all of the hard labor.

It sounds like conspiracy, but its not. The WEF is boldly marketing such a plan under the “Great Reset”. They want to kill democracy and capitalism, take your land and personhood, and replace it with lunatic commies like Sumner that will transform you into cyborg slaves.

1776 is the answer to 1984!

I don’t know about all of that human cyborg stuff
    🙂 🙂 🙂

But Sumner definitely likes socialist policies that make it increasingly difficult for small businesses to operate.

If Biden does get sworn into office it would be very wise to replace USD with the Yuan, because your dollars will be worthless under Sumner’s proposals.

The two main causes of death in the world are cancer and heart diseases. SARS-Cov-2 has killed around 1.5 million people so far, after a year or so. This is the first year and the bulk of the deaths have happened because the health system didn’t know how to deal with it. In 2017 4 million people died by diarrhea. 1.2 million died of tuberculosis, 1.4 million with diabetes, a little below 1 million died of HIV. COVID is real, what is unreal is the government officials response to it, and the liberty restrictions imposed unnecessarily around the globe. They do this because noone is counting the deaths they are causing with these stupid policies.
