Something I never thought possible

Here’s the Washington Post:

But on Sunday, Guiliani and Ellis distanced themselves from Powell.

“Sidney Powell is practicing law on her own,” Giuliani and Ellis said in their statement. “She is not a member of the Trump Legal Team. She is also not a lawyer for the President in his personal capacity.”

Two advisers to Trump, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss private conversations, said that the president disliked the coverage Powell was receiving from Tucker Carlson and others, and that several allies had reached out to say she had gone too far. The advisers also said that she fought with Giuliani and others in recent days.

The president believed she was causing more harm than help. “She was too crazy even for the president,” a campaign official said.

Too crazy for Trump? How is that even possible?

PS. Matt Yglesias describes the Trump legal team.

Dear God! I haven’t had this much fun since I was back in college. Every night I pray that Trump delays conceding a bit longer.

PPS. On a more serious note, Alex Tabarrok explains how America is becoming a banana republic.

    More lies, by the Scott “CCP” Sumner.

    The statement was a strategic move. Once again, you are way behind the curve ball, and twenty moves behind on the three dimensional chess board.

    Powell is filing lawsuits this week, along with American patriot and legal Legend Lin Wood that will take down the deep state.

    Its called Game. Set. Match. Dummy Sumner.

    Communists like you always lose in the end. You cannot take away our liberty.

    And yes, you will need to start looking for a new money source after CCP stops paying you to write propaganda.

    So proud of Lord Sumption and others with the courage to stand up to this tyranny.

    Everyone used to agree upon basic liberties, but with the new “communist democratic party”, and “academics and journalists supporting this party”, those liberties appear to be under attack now more than ever.

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-8973529/LORD-SUMPTION-morally-wrong-government-control-freaks-tell-Christmas.html

    Let’s hope to god the Supreme court rules in favor of DJT because if communist Biden gets into office our country is doomed. Biden is already talking about a “COVID CERTIFICATE” AKA “NAZI PAPERS” to move freely.

    NOBODY SHOULD COMPLY WITH UNCONSTITUTIONAL MANDATES. NOBODY SHOULD COMPLY WITH ARBITRARY CURFEWS. THEY CANNOT TELL YOU WHAT TO CELEBRATE AND HOW TO CELEBRATE. NOBODY CAN TELL YOU TO “JUST SHUTUP AND FOLLOW ORDERS”. THAT IS TOTALITARIAN CCP STYLE GOVERNANCE.

    IT IS TIME TO FIGHT BACK

    I have increasingly liked Trump from day 1—although as I have said before, I think his messaging was weak at the end——-he should have campaigned like the second debate.

    So, I think it is possible he really did lose. As far as Spock Chess is concerned, I wish “my side’ would just stop with this junk.

    And what could be more absurd than Rudy pulling a Haig on Powell?

    But, I lean toward massive fraud. It has to be massive to be real—-meaning if it is not massive there was really no fraud.

    The media is the worst. Do those computers really have the abilities to do what they are claimed? Even if they did not switch votes, could they?

    The problem with a conspiracy is they are impossible to be kept secret——yet the premise is they are. But we seem to have many affidavits.

    Stopped clock counting and all time vote highs.

    But it does not matter ——

    Not sure why no one is making a serious case the Republicans were the real fraudsters. The polls were indicating a large Biden lead plus quite possible Dem senate majority. Turnout was tremendous and Biden did get 8-10M more votes. It would appear more credible than the kooky Trumpist theories that Republican establishment engineered massive fraud stealing Dem congressional seats and reducing Biden’s margins without quite defeating him (either because the margin was insurmountable or because the Republican Deep State did not want Trump at the helm). I don’t buy either of the fraud theories but one seems more credible than the other.

    Alex Tabarrok is a clown.

    Sidney Powell is an American hero. She, and a few other fearless souls, are uncovering a whole lot of deception and fraud within the highest levels of the Washington apparatus.

    When Twitter is attacking your freedom of speech, then you are over the target.

    All will be revealed soon.

    In the meantime, if you want to quote real economists I suggest starting with Glenn Loury, Thomas Sowell and Walter Williams. They are freedom loving patriots. And they speak the truth.

    Affidavits affidavits affidavits is the new Russia Russia Russia

    “Your side” is now doing the same crying and bs whining that “the other side” did after 2016. Sometimes obvious results are obvious. Trump lost as fairly as he won in 2016.

    I don’t necessarily disagree——And there is no definite evidence. However, as I have said, I believe massive fraud was committed. Sort of like religion. I have no evidence—-just a perception that what we saw this time was radically different than anything we have seen before. Maybe even that is not true—yet–except for the 2 psychotic lawyers defending Trump—which only make his case look worse—-there are enough odd ducks—-the size of the vote, the count stopping, the “last minute come from behind wins”—all can be true of course. But—-given how they were willing to do anything to get him out of office—why would they stop at the election?

    Giuliani and team don’t want to share whatever money they’re getting out of Trump for these dubious challenges, especially since the money train runs out on December 8th if they can’t hold back any of the swing state certifications. At that point, the Electoral College vote is locked in and it’s over for Trump.

    @Michael R:

    As ssumner just noted, you are indeed caught in a faith-based delusion without evidence, very much like religion (or a cult). I don’t want to get into how even your “odd ducks” are not actually odd at all, because you are exemplifying this Paul Simon lyric perfectly:

    “A man sees what he wants to see, and disregards the rest”

    So I can tell you that the turnout was a natural occurrence when such a polarizing figure is on the ballot and both sides are very activated, not to mention all the easier voting by mail, I can tell you that there was no “come from behind” it was just the order that states counted their ballots that made it look that way, etc. And none of it will make a dent for you.

    There’s no evidence at all of the massive fraud required to make this election result happen if it didn’t actually happen. If there was any evidence Trump’s team would have presented it.

    You are simply wrong, full stop. Trump won a fair election in 2016, Biden won this one. Hopefully you have the intellectual honesty to accept this.

    “Too crazy for Trump? How is that even possible?”

    Sidney Powell response:

    “I agree with the campaign’s statement that I am not part of the campaign’s legal team. I never signed a retainer agreement or sent the President or the campaign a bill for my expenses or fees. My intent has always been to expose all the fraud I could find and let the chips fall where they may–whether it be upon Republicans or Democrats.

    The evidence I’m compiling is overwhelming that this software tool was used to shift millions of votes from President Trump and other Republican candidates to Biden and other Democrat candidates. We are proceeding to prepare our lawsuit and plan to file it this week. It will be epic….”

    My bet is on Sidney.

    Look at these 200 disgusting people, and tell me what color they are?

    Black men commit 50% of all violent crimes, yet make up 6% of the population.

    And yet they wonder why Police are on edge when approaching their vehicle? They wonder why there is a stereotype of the black male gangster? Well, they should look in the mirror.

    Of course Scott, you have certainly raised it, but I am mystified why it has not become a bigger talking point with the Dems. Seems like a super low hanging fruit, with a much higher level of credence than the Kraken lunacy.

    For humoristic reasons an absurd-crazy twist would certainly be desirable.

    For example, that a delusional idea of Trump’s lawyers becomes true.

    Or that it comes out that US intelligence has released the virus in Wuhan 12/2019, in the assumption that Trump will not lose if he does not have to show his complete disaster incompetence strikingly for many months.

    The twist should, however, be long after the inauguration of Biden and after Trump has lost all power.

    I have already gotten used to Trump not being around and I don’t miss him so far at all. He had a nice troll run for four years, but enough is enough. There is a life after Trump, let’s get used to it.

    @RedQueen
    This is simply the mirror silliness of the Trumpistas that you represent here. There’s zero indication for relevant fraud in any direction, and if there was, it would most likely offset each other.

    @Christian List:
    Of course it is a mirror image, by design. And I was quite clear I don’t believe either theory. The question still remains why the asymmetry in the declared kookiness. Perhaps it means the Dems, despite their execrable wokeness, are exhibiting relatively more sanity than the insane deplorables. Who woulda thought.

  19. Gravatar of Christian List Christian List
    23. November 2020 at 15:28

    @RedQueen

    First of all, they didn’t lose. Secondly, they seem indeed more sane in this respect.

    But surely there would be enough Democratic supporters who would cling to conspiracy theories if their party had lost. Not as many as the GOP supporters maybe, but quite some.

    The more I think about it: The GOP doesn’t dominate the mainstream narration, that might be one important reason why their conspiracy theories are so kooky or seem so kooky to us.

    The Democrats dominate the narratives in media and science, sometimes to the point of perfection – perhaps that is why their conspiracy theories have such a serious ring to them.

    Think of the narrative of Russian interference in 2016. It quickly became a popular “explanation” for the election defeat, even in the most serious democratic circles and media outlets.

    Or even complete ideologies like feminism, racism, identity politics, climate change. I’m not saying that all this problems don’t exist, they do, but it quickly gets a really kooky drive with these people, surprisingly similar to conspiracy theory, a monocausal theory for everything, a theory that is suddenly supposed to explain ALL the problems and outcomes of this world. This is nuts, but nuts on quite a sophisticated level.

    To those fantasizing about Sidney Powell unearthing mass fraud with the Dominion voting systems…
    Dominion voting systems provide printouts. She will have to prove that someone replaced millions of printouts at hundreds of polling stations without being noticed by any poll workers anywhere.

    mgskings must be watching and reading a lot of MSM propaganda.

    Trump has NOT conceded. And it is unlikely he will concede until both Sidney Powell’s lawsuits and the campaign lawsuits are exhausted.

    The Supreme Court will almost certainly rule in both cases. Violating equal protection is a serious claim, and there IS evidence to support these claims. Indeed, Giuliani’s lawsuit is predicated on such claims. A lawsuit being thrown out the lower level happens all the time. It has no bearing on the appeal process. Any suggestion it does, is simply inaccurate. It’s clear to me that you are NOT an attorney.

    The most likely outcome is that the Supreme Court invalidates these swing states, at which point neither Biden nor Trump has enough votes to win the electoral college. In such a case, the congress will decide the winner. It’s happened many times before.

    And folks, someday you must learn that MSM is mostly propaganda. Quoting the Washington Post, when the Washington Post is owned and operated by Jeff Bezos, and is designed to promote his own global interests, is simply not very intelligent.

    The truth, as outlined already by Jenna Ellis, is that Sidney Powell is focusing on Dominion — such a case takes longer, hence the split between campaign lawsuits focusing on equal protection, and Dominion lawsuits focusing on corruption.

    Sumner consistently quotes the Posts “anonymous sources” and convinces himself that this is all real. It’s NOT.

  26. Gravatar of Nick Nick
    24. November 2020 at 02:11

    No academic can quote the Washington Post, and be taken seriously.

    Whenever you see these two words “Anonymous Sources”, the likelihood those sources exist are close to zero.

    Sidney Powell is a former prosecutor. She has taken on more than 600 appeals cases and has won almost all of them. She came to the aid of General Flynn (an American hero) after he ran out of money and could no longer pay for his defense, and she got most of the charges dropped (pro bono).

    She’s extremely intelligent, has a track record of winning the most difficult cases, and is considered by most legal scholars to be one of the most successful attorneys in American history.

    To suggest that she is “lying” or “crazy” is in and of itself an insane statement. Only a fool, or those involved in propaganda, would make such claims.

    If you ask Dershowitz to name his dream team, Lin Wood is the first pick. When Lin Wood says he has evidence, and the deep state will be exposed shortly, people should be listening. Unless, of course, you are a partisan hack.

    Communists always say “be adults”, “be friends”, “unite and come together” etc. It’s just part of their plan to minimize your voice, and erode individualism.

    You can never trust the communist. At this point there is no uniting. People who support collectivism are deranged, and they are the enemy of humanity. The only way forward is violence. It’s unfortunate, but it’s the truth.

    @Scott and MSkings.

    I was joking about “like religion”. BTW, I always use that Paul Simon quote—-were you trolling me? Of course I have no evidence—-how could I have evidence?

    But I can observe. Most importantly, the manner in which votes were permitted was clearly absurd. Unprecedented, and clearly open to fraud. In voting I like our neighbors to the north. Paper ballots, hand counted, and voter ID enforced.

    I can observe the coincidence of close states stopping their counting for hours. I can observe that some states will not even complete counting. I can observe that down ballots “unexpectedly” out performed. I can observe the reflexive response of Anti-Trumpers who claim there is nothing odd looking about this election—-no curiosity.

    I wonder how many people who see no problem with this election would support this same method next time? If not, why not? If yes, then you are truly not paying attention.
