Farewell to the farewell

I often criticize Donald Trump, but he actually gave a decent farewell address when leaving office. Not up there with Washington’s masterpiece, but pretty good. Here’s an excerpt:

All Americans were horrified by the assault on our Capitol. Political violence is an attack on everything we cherish as Americans. It can never be tolerated.

But that was then. This is now:

Former president Donald Trump said he would issue full pardons and a government apology to rioters who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, and violently attacked law enforcement to stop the democratic transfer of power.

“I mean full pardons with an apology to many,” he told conservative radio host Wendy Bell on Thursday morning. . . .

Supporters of the former president attacked the Capitol as Congress was confirming Joe Biden’s electoral college win in the 2020 election, the worst attack on the seat of democracy in more than two centuries. The insurrection left four people dead, and an officer who had been sprayed with a powerful chemical irritant, Brian D. Sicknick, suffered a stroke and died the next day. About 140 members of law enforcement were injured as rioters attacked them with flagpoles, baseball bats, stun guns, bear spray and pepper spray.

He’s gone from “It can never be tolerated” to actually providing financial aid to the criminals:

“I am financially supporting people that are incredible and they were in my office actually two days ago, so they’re very much in my mind,” Trump said. “It’s a disgrace what they’ve done to them. What they’ve done to these people is disgraceful.”

The far left occasionally complains that poor black defendants are political prisoners due to the bias in our judicial system. That’s a bit of a stretch, but vastly more plausible than the claim that the system is biased against first responders:

In his interview with Bell, Trump suggested that the Jan. 6 defendants are “mostly” “firemen, they’re policemen, they’re people in the military.” He accused the justice system, which he described as “this radical left system,” of mistreating the defendants.

The victims were also police officers. So why does Trump favor criminal police officers over those brave police officers that tried to protect us from the “assault on our Capitol”?

PS. Here’s George Washington, from his farewell address:

Let me now take a more comprehensive view and warn you in the most solemn manner against the
baneful effects of the spirit of party, generally.

This spirit, unfortunately, is inseparable from our nature, having its root in the strongest passions of
the human mind. It exists under different shapes in all governments, more or less stifled, controlled, or repressed; but in those of the popular form it is seen in its greatest rankness and is truly their worst enemy.

The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge natural to
party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is
itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism. The
disorders and miseries which result gradually incline the minds of men to seek security and repose
in the absolute power of an individual; and sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction, more
able or more fortunate than his competitors, turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation on the ruins of public liberty.

PPS. Here’s Reagan, the day before he left office:

Now, tomorrow is a special day for me. I’m going to receive my gold watch. And since this is the last speech that I will give as President, I think it’s fitting to leave one final thought, an observation about a country which I love. It was stated best in a letter I received not long ago. A man wrote me and said: “You can go to live in France, but you cannot become a Frenchman. You can go to live in Germany or Turkey or Japan, but you cannot become a German, a Turk, or a Japanese. But anyone, from any corner of the Earth, can come to live in America and become an American.”

Yes, the torch of Lady Liberty symbolizes our freedom and represents our heritage, the compact with our parents, our grandparents, and our ancestors. It is that lady who gives us our great and special place in the world. For it’s the great life force of each generation of new Americans that guarantees that America’s triumph shall continue unsurpassed into the next century and beyond. Other countries may seek to compete with us; but in one vital area, as a beacon of freedom and opportunity that draws the people of the world, no country on Earth comes close.

This, I believe, is one of the most important sources of America’s greatness. We lead the world because, unique among nations, we draw our people — our strength — from every country and every corner of the world. And by doing so we continuously renew and enrich our nation. While other countries cling to the stale past, here in America we breathe life into dreams. We create the future, and the world follows us into tomorrow. Thanks to each wave of new arrivals to this land of opportunity, we’re a nation forever young, forever bursting with energy and new ideas, and always on the cutting edge, always leading the world to the next frontier. This quality is vital to our future as a nation. If we ever closed the door to new Americans, our leadership in the world would soon be lost.

Beautiful.

I guess this means the few here who slandered me as a nutcase ‘Qanon’ conspiracy theorist are all going to have to say the same thing about the President of the United States! LOL

That Q clearance patriots at the highest levels of government intelligence are directly helping Trump (an ‘outsider’) dismantle a globalist communist satanic pedophile cult that infiltrated the media, CIA, FBI, DOJ, and the Executive Office of the President, is according to MSM now being pushed by Trump himself.

I know it’s a big pill to swallow, I know the informational ‘conditioning’ from the msm is prompting trusting viewers to ‘react’ with the same exact pattern of rejection, attacks, ‘conspiracy theory’ labels, and other tactics designed to stop critical thinking, questioning and evidence.

That’s what happens from communist regimes when they control media and government. The INFORMATION, i.e. “the narrative”, is destroyed and replaced with lies the public trusts as truths, much like a PHYSICAL location war zone becomes visibly destroyed where industry and residential neighborhoods are replaced with rubble, militia organizations (e.g. Antifa, BLM).

“As Gregor Samsa awoke one morning from uneasy dreams he found himself transformed in his bed into a gigantic insect.” – Kafka

Replace ‘gigantic insect’ with ‘socialist man’ and you’ll understand 99% of asleep leftists still remaining in the country.

You’re conflating two very different groups at the capitol.

The hundreds of thousands of protestors must be distinguished from the FBI and other fed infiltration of the protests, e.g. Ray Epps.

The FBI spied on, arrested, and threw into gulags MANY NON VIOLENT protestors, and not only that, but they even arrested people who were not even at the capitol.

There are innocent people rotting in prison. THOSE are who Trump is intending to pardon, NOT THOSE WHO COMMITTED CRIMES.

The January 6th Committee hearings were a complete nothing burger so they raided Trump’s house to keep the heat on him.

Every swamp hoax against Trump is designed to prevent the swamp’s corruption from being exposed.

The FBI unit in charge of the Russia Collusion hoax, is the same FBI unit that burglarized Trump’s home.

“ However combinations or associations of the above description may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely, in the course of time and things, to become potent engines by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion.”

Very astute… but many are well past pernicious party loyalty and onto the worship of one unprincipled man that has tried to usurp the reins of government – and to the thundering applause of millions one mindless conspiracy theorists.

Could you imagine being so mindless as to just swallow whatever one man says like that?

    George, You said:

I sure hope they catch those evil people!!

The Reagan quote was great. I completely agree. Thanks for sharing.

Unfortunately, the hesitancy of the Justice Department to prosecute Trump lends credibility to his claims that the charges are overblown. If Trump’s crimes are so serious, why not arrest him immediately? Of course, this only presents a problem to stupid and/or ingnorant voters.

I see no logic in a policy that says a sitting President cannot be indicted, arrested, and prosecuted. Hence, it makes even less sense to hesitate to prosecute a former President. The Justice Department waited about 18 long months for Trump to voluntarily return highly sensitive classified documents. They should have sought a warrant immeduately and stormed his home many months ago.

Of course, Trump has no legal strategy. His strategy, to the extent it ever exists, is to politically bully those who would hold him accountable. The FBI needs to arrest him and treat him like the criminal he is.

The arrests, prosecutions, and imprisonments of Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, and Harvey Weinstein were put into the public narrative first for a very good reason.

    Pills become easier to swallow.

35 burglaries were conducted by the FBI yesterday against Biden’s political opponents across the country.

    And there is this:

Notice the pattern. Steal information from political opposition, illegally leak ‘selective’ bits to the fake news msm, concoct scam “investigations” to smear opponent in public, all right before midterms, dwindling number of trusting viewers fall prey to the same TDS ‘whataboutism’ that has been taking place since the cult rigged the 2020 election. All to prevent exposure of THEIR corruption.

I still don’t understand why people do not get QAnon. It was an intended parody by the right of the left’s view of the right. How do people not know this?

Yes, some right wingers temporarily fell into well but climbed out. Stupid is everywhere.

Re Epstein/Maxwell—-was it really only them who were pedophiles? I thought there was going to be investigations——-guess not.

Why are we so many anxious to arrest Trump? For example——Michael Sandifer states the FBI needs to arrest Trump and Treat him like the criminal he is. How does he know this?

Of course, they keep trying to do what MS wants to do to Trump. Yet somehow they cannot. I wonder why.

I do not think the GOP should play the same game——when they get in power. Nor do I want them to be their usual weakling self. Change the narrative completely. Can they? Do they even want to? Who knows—-but we should find out.

Reagan was right guy at right time. He pulled sone stunts too however, but despite morons on the left who called him stupid and worse he was far from it. My two favorite Moments (one real, one SNL). 1) 1964 speech during Goldwater campaign 2) Reagan as detailed genius who knew everything there was to know about Iran Contra on Saturday Night live.

Gorby never could figure out how to move USSR forward—-he was good at step one—-unwind Soviet Union—-but he had no forward clue. He was easy to take down—-Of course, he recently gets credit for ending Cold War——partly true—-he gave up.
