Burma is a banana republic
The military in Burma is using baseless allegations of election fraud to overturn the results of a democratic election that did not go their way:
Myanmar military television said Monday that the military was taking control of the country for one year, while reports said many of the country’s senior politicians including Aung San Suu Kyi had been detained.
An presenter on military-owned Myawaddy TV made the announcement and cited a section of the military-drafted constitution that allows the military to take control in times of national emergency. He said the reason for takeover was in part due to the government’s failure to act on the military’s claims of voter fraud in last November’s election and its failure to postpone the election because of the coronavirus crisis.
I wonder where they got the idea?

There have been countless allegations of fraud in Myanmar, and the military has called for investigating these allegations a number of times – even providing the Suu Kyi regime with advanced notice, and an ultimatum. Despite these warnings, and pleadings to investigate, the military was ignored.
Don’t you guys see the narrative yet? Has it not been made clear? Is it not obvious?
If you are part of the global establishment, and play by the rules of the globalist game – i.e., permit your country to be plundered by plutocratic interests, then you can receive billions in financial aid, carry out crimes against humanity, and run your country anyway you wish. After all, many autocratic and blood thirsty regimes are permitted to exist by the hand of the UN/Washington money machine, when their regimes would collapse by the hands of oppressed people. This has been made clear, time and again, most notably, and most recently, by a Princeton academic who wrote “The Great Escape”.
The truth: Suu Kyi is a corrupt apparatchik who was in the process of exterminating Rohingya. She watched, and laughed & giggled, as those people were slaughtered to death. Two Reuters journalists are still in jail for reporting this truth.
The untruth propagated by Sumner and the globalist agenda: remember if you don’t play by the globalist rules they twist the narrative. The military will be called a dictatorship. They will be condemned. Sanctions will be levied and military possible deployed. But when Thailand and other countries do the same thing, the globalist elite fall silent. Why? Because of special interests! Nothing more. Nothing less.
The globalists already have Thailand. The King is their puppet, and he plays by their rules. But other than Suu Kyi, the Myanmar regime has always been difficult to “buy off”. Now that she and her fake Nobel peace prize are gone, the globalist propaganda machine is in full force.

In the US there is no criminal junta that controls the military and invalidates democratic election results.
In the US there is a democratically elected President whose son has a loose relationship to consulting salaries with Ukrainian gas companies. But that’s about it so far. And there is a crazed ex-President without any office or any other influence on the military or on election results.

Which is pathetic——I still await his criticisms of the current administration——perhaps he has none——then I would like to hear what positive things they have done so far. Well, the administration did express their “alarm” (makes them sound scared) about the coup. Alarm?
I also thought the US still called it Burma, for some reason or another—-Scott knows why—-but the new administration calls it Myanmar —-maybe Trump changed it back to encourage the coup.
I wonder if Psaki will know. What is she going to say? Myanmar or Burma? At least Scott calls it Burma—-so he gets some points for that.

I’m puzzled by the timing of the Burma coup because the military junta immediately pissed off the Biden administration. Maybe the generals are signaling to China that they’re aligned with them and any pretense of democracy is being swept away.
The bigger story is what is going down in Russia. That won’t end well.

So, unfortunately, there are alternatives again, we now have a big authoritarian player in the world again, like the USSR used to be, which is also directly in the neighborhood.
A regime that tells the military in Myanmar every day, “You are allowed to do what you want, as long as you cooperate with us again. We support you.” This is the multipolar world you wanted. How can one person be so blind?
It is only logical that this military dictatorship will eventually accept this offer with gratitude.
So first of all, it is the plot and the will of the military dictators in Myanmar itself. Then it is the full support of CCP China for this behavior. And then at the very end, it is perhaps 5-10% Western states that may have behaved too clumsily, like they often do.

China’s trade with Myanmar dwarfs the US-Myanmar trade relationship (check the actual facts over at https://import-export.societegenerale.fr/en/country/myanmar/presentation-trade).

The post presupposes that the military is lying. But what evidence do you have?
There is evidence of fraud. A woman admitted to voting underage, and one community elder admitted to asking all underage to vote for Suu Kyi.
Before we come to any conclusion, shouldn’t all allegations be investigated?
In the Philippines, the same software company that was used in the USA elections – I believe the name is smartmatic – was found to have had many “glitches” during the 2016 Philippine election.
Furthermore, evidence shows that these glitches were all in favor of Dutertes opponent Mar Roxas. Mar Roxas had close ties – both politically and financially – to the Obama administration. Obviously, Duterte had overwhelming support and still won the election; nevertheless, most of us find the glitches to be noteworthy, and eerily similar to allegations in the 2020 US election.
So I do wonder how you can come to such sweeping conclusion without any investigation? Do you know something the rest of the world does not, or are you simply speaking as a partisan in favor of Suu Kyi?
